People doing their thing. NYC.
I’m back in UK now so it’s time to go through the photos. There’s not many photos of me but there are some shadows and reflections. Lets start with that.
I photographed a rehearsal to a great dance performance though. Nueve.ocho starts next week in Mexico City. Come if you’re around.
No more constant updates from the road. I’m shooting mostly with 35mm and working on few small projects so there’s not much to show at the moment.
A couple of good looking, tanned people. Mwah!
Carolina’s take on this: ‘Come to Mexico, eat mangos and fall in love’.
I see our future in advertising.
Quick scans from a trip to Chacahua. I picked up a 35mm Minolta in Mexico City. Cameras from different places are my favourite souvenirs.
The whole week has been intense. I flew to Puerto Escondido, couch surfed at Rainier’s, then took 2 buses, a boat and a truck and I found myself at a beautiful beach in the Lagunas de Chacahua National Park.
Pacific Ocean, sand and a hammock. That was it. Oh and the men in the village who were absolutely confused by my height. 6’1’ earned me free mangoes, shells and coconuts. Sweet.
On the way back, I popped to Mexico City and now I’m in Tepoztlan. Finally. I want to stay put for a little while. I’m knackered!

Me: Have you travelled a lot?
Martin: No, mountains won’t let me go…. And tortilla…
It’s already been interesting. It all began with a 3h long yoga session (which left me in agony), getting a sunstroke, falling of the stairs (because I wanted to see the moon and it didn’t even look that good) and then getting a fever.
I just emerged out of bed and I’m starting to feel like myself again. 50 days to go!
I just lost half a tooth. I may not make it back to UK.
It’s been over a month since I’ve left UK. I’ve travelled over 2000 miles and my only worry was limited to finding a bed (of some sorts) for the night. No routines, no Manchester rain, no thinking about money. Mission accomplished. Big thank you to Jen, Sara and Nick, Brian, Alyssa and Will, Dustin, Aaron, Matt and Shannon!
Things I received from various people on the road:
- Crystal from Idaho
- Fireworks which I swapped for a chain
- Snickers chocolate bar
- Handmade lip balm
- A ‘I love you more than a pickle’ fridge magnet
- 5 good songs
- Don’t go to the lower ninth ward in New Orleans if you don’t want to be attacked by a man in a skirt.
- Keep the II World War backpack. People (mostly bus drivers) think you’re in the army and let you off the bus fare.
- Don’t drink tequila and go tubing on the river. You’re either drown (not me) or make a fool out of yourself (me).
